Our Story Starts With Sawdust
Jerry Groves swept sawdust on his father’s job sites. Fifty years later, the same family builds North Georgia estates to the same standard. This page is the story of what happened in between.
Three Generations. One Standard.
Jerry started at seven, sweeping sawdust on decks his father built in Maryland. By eighteen he was in site development and underground utilities. By twenty-one he was running a crew on $5M jobs. By twenty-seven he was managing $50M highway projects across Pennsylvania. He spent thirty years building everything underneath and around homes before he ever built one for a client.
In 2016, Jerry and Karen hired a general contractor to build an addition on their 1800s farmhouse. He was absent, his subs were unmanaged, and his contracts left the family exposed. Jerry fired him and finished the build himself. RLG was founded as the answer: the builder they needed and couldn’t find. Every standard we hold today traces back to that experience.

Jerry is on your site every day. He reads land the way an infrastructure professional reads it, because that is what he was for thirty years: drainage, grade, access, soil. The placement calls he makes before a foundation is poured are the reason our builds finish the way they were quoted.
Karen runs the side of the build most clients never see until it goes wrong: contracts, billing, and communication. Every client reviews the books with her weekly. Every subcontract is shared, every decision documented. If Jerry is why the build goes right, Karen is why you never have to wonder.
